week 4-5 objectives:
Idenitify various organizational structures
Organizational culture
Research
excerpt on my assignment:
"Introduction
The culture of an organization is introduced with its goals and mission which describe how things are done at the particular organization. This may include the vision of the company as a scope of the intent of this organization. Structured goals set the tone for its cultural impact. Environmental atmosphere, compensation, standardized policies, people, leadership, and organization are the main components of organizational structures. Managing culture is imperative to organizational structure and design. Management selects processes for procedures within the company, for example, open-door policy versus appointment requirements. Managers heavily influence organizational culture in multiple ways. Workflow policy and decision-making processes include organizational design details regarding interdependence, collaborative, partnerships, and team-building versus individual work. Culture includes, but is not limited to: rules, policies, behavior, decision-making. The following five organizations were selected to compare and contrast structural designs for the purpose of this research paper: Fidelity Investment, Adobe, Gannett, Suncor, and Regus.
Relationship of Structure to Culture
Culture is one of the most important internal dimensional contributors to an effectively structured organization. (Edwards, J., 2014). Essential supporting foundations are that of hierarchical, adhocracy, market, and clan cultural types. These underlying systems are components that help identify, define, design, and change the culture of an organization.
Glassdoor identified the best organizations to work for in 2024 due to flexibility, transparency, and opportunities for career advancement. (Paulise, 2024). This list provides guidance for individuals to recognize organizational values, leadership style, and is a tool for leaders to improve their organizational culture. The ever-evolving professional landscape requires companies to prioritize employee satisfaction and well-being as a criticality in business practices to ensure long-term success. (Paulise, 2024).
Manager Strategies
Three ways a manager could improve the interface of structure and culture are through organizational control systems such as output control, clan control, behavioral controls, or extraordinarily so through a mix of these three. Three management strategies that can make a bureaucratic organization a more team-oriented, collaborative, and inclusive culture include: transforming their business organizations into social organizations through trends, demands, and opportunities by mixing cultural types. Organizational control systems are vital in strategy execution by tracking performance to identify any reasonable and appropriate responses to change. (Edwards, J., 2014).
Leader workplaces are diversifying regarding gender, and office culture and policies must match such change. A recent study explores the influence of gender, management, and organizational characteristics on planners' perceptions of workplace culture and benefits by combining feminist planning theory with workplace psychology theories of expectation states, role congruity, and representative bureaucracy, and transformational leadership, to improve workplace dynamics identifying exclusive communication and equal opportunity are linked to management strategies. (Turesky, 2020., pg 1). “Introducing gender-inclusive planning and leadership development curriculum to planning programs would prepare future planners; and ongoing training for management may improve behavior, communication, and benefits for all genders in planning workplaces.” (Turesky, 2020., pg 1).
The energy industry faces global issues such as global warming, rising sea level, melting Arctic and Antarctic glaciers, deterioration of the natural environment, and depletion of fossil energy. Changes prompt solutions for environmental protection and ideas such as new energy automobiles has been proposed for industry sustainability, including energy conservation and low noise. The thermal management of intelligent automobiles is not only limited to simply solving the problem of engine heat dissipation but also involves reliability, power, economy, emissions, and comfort. (Huang, 2022., pg 1). The integrated thermal management of new energy vehicles includes engine cooling, oil cooling, air conditioning refrigeration, HVAC heating, supercharged intercooling, low cycle thermal fatigue, and thermal damage. Energy vehicles such as hybrid and pure electric vehicles include motor cooling, motor controller cooling, and power battery temperature control, for vehicle thermal management optimization design - this research study proposes IVTM technical solutions, relying on multidimensional numerical calculation coupling and multiple objective collaborative optimization control to integrate system design, scheme evaluation, performance analysis, dynamic control, and collaborative optimization for innovation purposes. Through the integrated thermal management collaborative control strategy based on the full operating conditions of the new energy vehicle, the comprehensive improvement of multiple evaluation indicators such as system design performance, thermal management, and control performance and economy is achieved. (Huang, 2022., pg 1).
FinTech being an example of the financial technology perspective, partnership motives were found to be financial return, reputation and credibility. On the other hand, critical incumbent motives were customer satisfaction and business model innovation. From an organizational perspective, these motives mainly incorporate the opportunity to challenge, pivot and expand the existing business model while increasing customer satisfaction via additional innovative products or services. (Ruhland, 2023).
Evaluation of Organizations
Two good organizations are: Fidelity Investments and Adobe. Glassdoor consolidates the list for best workplaces by identifying the factors of flexibility such as hybrid or remote work including training programs, transparency that offers consistent open communication between employees and their leadership, and opportunities for career advancement such as ability for moving up in their company as the factors contributing to organizational success - especially in regards to employee satisfaction. (Paulise, 2024). Fidelity Investments ranks #10 on this list of 100 best companies to work for, being cited for good pay, management, and benefits, along with good work-life balance. While Adobe is ranked #15 on this list, with work-life balance, good co-worker relationships, internal career development, and empathetic culture being cited. (Glassdoor, 2024). This gives way for Adobe to function as clan culture – being friendly and people oriented. Both receiving 4.5 stars for reviews, an Adobe employee reviewed the company, naming these positives and with the only negative being that of limited salary growth over time. (Glassdoor, 2023). The Adobe company website describes its products as tools for speedy workflows and increasing productivity. The website also displays the mission, goals, and vision for the organization to include approaches and initiatives such as inclusivity, diversity, equity, creativity, unity, privacy, security, sustainability, and safety commitments. (Adobe, 2024). This offers functionality for Adobe as adhocracy culture – given its emphasis on creativity, innovation, and vision as a software development provider. Fidelity Investments displays solutions for individual goals and managing employee benefit programs, also wealth management with innovation and technology to stay ahead in evolution on their corporate website. This allows Fidelity Investments to function as market culture being results-oriented, and, adhocracy culture with its intent on innovation and focused plans for the future.
Two not-so-good organizations are: Gannett and Suncor. Additionally, Regus rated 6 on the Yahoo list of the 17 worst companies to work for in America. With a rating of 2.9 via Glassdoor, the publishing industry Gannett, owner of USA Today, proclaims it is the largest newspaper company in the culture – however, in regards to employee satisfaction, only 38% would recommend the company to a friend, while 26% have a positive. (Louis, 2020). According to Glassdoor, a reviewer identified a former district manager, “gradually deteriorated over the years as newspaper circulation shifted online. It's a zero sum game.” (Louis, 2020). Gannett seems to only report one perspective of its productivity such as a 25% increase in digital subscriptions after merging with its rival media company in 2019, yet its revenue decreased nearly 10%, Gannett states, “never been a better time” to work at the organization, and employees have the opportunity to learn from other experts and, “quickly level up” in their career.” (Louis, 2020).
With a rating also of 2.9 via Glassdoor, the energy industry, Suncor, has employee satisfaction of only 4% employee recommendation. While many of the employees indeed agree that benefits are good regarding salary, one equipment mechanic reports the company having, “poor management, poor planning, [a] hazardous environment and [is] under equipped to maintain equipment.” (Louis, 2020). Also ranking poorly on Glassdoor for work-life balance and employment opportunities, Suncor admitted on its corporate website that safety performance in 2019 is described as, “unfavorable,” after a contractor died – adding that is has now implemented expanded safety and wellness programs. (Louis, 2020).
With the Glassdoor rating of 2.8, the advertising and marketing industry, Regus, is a leading global workspace provider that has filed bankruptcy seeking to have their rents dismissed, as stated that the coronavirus has negatively impacted their workspace concept in a tremendous way. (Louis, 2020). According to Glassdoor, in regards to employee satisfaction only 28% have a positive business outlook, while ranking 34% in employee recommendation, with poor management a common complaint due to leaders being disorganized and unhelpful. (Louis, 2020). This organization did not prepare for change, nor did it have an appropriate response to change. This nonstrategic decision-making negatively impacted the organizational culture disrupting workflow as well as dissatisfying employees. This organization is an example of failure to face change, embrace change, and therefore failed to sustain or improve operational design structure.
Also additionally, in contrast, legal was recognized as the sector with the best employers, with a rating that was 311% higher than military and protective services. (Westfall, 2023).
Examination Conclusion
This research has analyzed structural and cultural design interface to make more efficient and effective organizations. Efficiency is needed to create and sustain a well-organized workflow to achieve highest productivity at lowest effort and cost while effectively operating in fulfillment of its intended goals, mission, and vision. Management construct implements impactful decision-making processes that allow for the well-organized workflow that results in the elevated organization goal-achievement, trickling down to employee and consumer satisfaction. Comparing and contrasting the selected organization examines the measurement of determining whether successful structure is achieved or pinpoints the areas of improvement needed to reach efficient and effective levels. This criticality requires analysis to determine if cultural design has positively impacted workplaces by identifying strategic managerial plans of ways to improve or continue the successful interface of organizational structure and culture. Also the inclusion of ways organizations can proceed from bureaucratic to flexible designs contribute to optional methods recommended by collected statistical data. Based on their research, offering flexible work options, providing training and development program, and maintaining open and transparent communication between senior leadership and employees are the most important factors that contribute to a company's success in terms of employee satisfaction and engagement. christ means appointed rather than Sun/Son of God/Yah
satan means adversary rather than Devil or Demon
Evil-angel Evangeline Dandridge Eve
Perhaps God is the Devil because God's wrath is heavily emphaized in Revelations, while satan is a goofy that tempts humans into falsehoods
How are falsehoods evil? The Truth of God's wrath seems to put absolute fear in all.
